EVA: Greenflex, Escorene
KEY BENEFITS:
- flexibility
- toughness
- weather resistance
LIMITATIONS:
- temperature resistance
- tensile strength
Typical applications
Footwear and sports equipment
Due to its excellent shock absorption ability and low weight, EVA is a key material in the sports industry.
- Running shoe midsoles: They provide flexibility, comfort and relieve pressure on joints when running.
- Orthopedic insoles: They adapt to the shape of the foot and provide long-lasting support.
- Flip-flops and sandals: Many lightweight summer flip-flops (e.g. Crocs or Yeezy Foam Runner) are molded entirely from EVA foam.
- Protectors: It is used as a protective filler in helmets, shin guards, and martial arts gloves.
Packaging and technical foam
As a closed-cell foam, EVA does not absorb water, is resistant to chemicals and extremely durable.
- Protective inserts for suitcases: Precision-cut foam (often laser or CNC) protects delicate equipment, tools, cosmetics or technical instruments during transport.
- Transport separators: Cushioning elements in industrial packaging.
Home and leisure products
EVA is safe, non-toxic and pleasant to the touch, which is why it is popular in everyday life.
- Children's tatami mats: Stackable foam play blocks that cushion falls.
- Yoga and fitness cushions: Durable, non-slip mats ensure comfort during exercise.
- Water toys and swimming accessories: Foam boards for learning to swim and water worms, as the material floats perfectly on water.
Adhesives and construction
When EVA has a higher vinyl acetate content, it loses the properties of a solid plastic and becomes an excellent binder.
- Hot-melt adhesives: EVA is the basis for glue sticks that are melted using glue guns, as it allows for quick hardening and strong adhesion on various surfaces.
- Construction accessories: Redispersible EVA-based polymer powders are added to mortars, tile adhesives and plasters to improve flexibility and adhesion.
Medicine and pharmacy
Because the material does not contain plasticizers (such as phthalates) and is biocompatible, it is used in healthcare.
- Medical tubes and bags: Bags for infusion, parenteral nutrition and other medical fluids.
- Dental protection: Mouthguards for sports or against teeth grinding
